⭐ About The Immature Student
Hi, I’m Ria — a full‑time mum and mature student who somehow thought going back to university in my forties was a great idea. Spoiler: it’s chaotic, hilarious, and occasionally brilliant, and yes there will also be tears along the way!
I started The Immature Student to share the real side of studying later in life — the coffee‑fuelled essays, the juggling act between work, parenting, and deadlines, and the moments that make it all worthwhile. This blog is a space for anyone who’s ever felt “too old,” “too busy,” or “too tired” to chase a dream, but did it anyway.
Here you’ll find reflections on uni life, SEND teaching, motherhood, and the messy balance between ambition and exhaustion. I write with honesty, humour, and a healthy dose of self‑deprecation — because learning doesn’t stop when you grow up, and maturity is overrated.
So grab a brew (or wine which I tend to consume too much of apparently….! ) pull up a chair, and join me as I navigate the beautiful chaos of being The Immature Student.
